What Is Green ClassroomsCare?
Canada’s Boreal Forests stretch from British Columbia all the way to Newfoundland and up into Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon, reaching as far north as the Arctic Ocean. They are part of the world’s largest land-based carbon sink and make up a full quarter of the world’s remaining intact forests. Scholastic Book Clubs is partnering with classrooms across the country to help protect this valuable natural resource! This new Green ClassroomsCare is a reading program that empowers students to make our planet a greener place starting right here at home, just by reading! When your class reads 100 books by Earth Day, April 22, 2010, Scholastic Book Clubs will make a donation to help protect 100 sq. km of Canadian Boreal Forest!* The donation will be made in honour of your class, with the help of Scholastic's environmental partners, and will be used to support the protection of trees that provide valuable oxygen and a home for thousands of different animals.
* to a maximum of 50,000 sq. km

What Is ClassroomsCare?
Right here in Canada there are plenty of boys and girls who don't have any
books in their schools. Classrooms across Canada have the power to change
that! ClassroomsCare is a special reading program that empowers students to read
and make a difference. When your class reads 100 books by January 22, 2010,
Scholastic Book Clubs will donate 100 books to kids who need them!* The
donation will be made in honour of your class with the help of Scholastic's
Literacy Partners. That's why the ClassroomsCare motto is: We're Reading to Give!
*Up to 100,000 books.
