Atlas of the World
With more than 80 maps, hundreds of colour photographs and thousands of statistics, this book will enrich and expand a young Canadian’s view of every country in the world.

Each double-page spread shows a detailed topographical map of the country, locating important cities, mountains, deserts and bodies of water, with its own index.

Colourful sidebars allow Canadian kids to compare foreign countries with their own. For every country, sidebars indicate how far its capital is from Ottawa and what time zone it is in. Countries are compared to Canada in terms of life expectancy and automobile ownership; for each country, area, population, language, religion and currency are listed, and flags are shown. Throughout, the tallest mountains and longest rivers are compared to our own, adding relevance for young readers.

A detailed introduction shows how Earth was formed, how maps evolved and how different maps are used.
